Architecture for Liturgy 2016

Father Daniel McCarthy of the Abbey presents the Liturgy Week Architecture for Liturgy on 16-20 January 2017, at the Spiritual Life Center, Wichita, Kansas. He answers the question “What is a church?” by pointing to personal illumination in the baptistery and font, ongoing maturation by the Word of God in the hall and at the ambo, leading to interpersonal communion around the Lord’s table, the altar-ciborium on the dais. These are richly illustrated with photos of churches from Italy, the UK and USA. The week also includes a pictorial journey through the ancient basilicas of Rome. Father Daniel presents the results of his doctoral work by discussing the design of many churches since the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). The liturgy week includes visits to four selected churches with guided discussions of them.
