pilgrimage of hope
Join Abbot James and the monks of St. Benedict’s Abbey on a four-day spiritual pilgrimage in the heartland to visit the Sacred Jubilee sites and the holy sites and shrines that bear witness to the courageous faith and holiness of three remarkable figures: Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne, Blessed Stanley Rother, and Venerable Emil Kapaun.
Tentative Schedule
This prayerful journey will deepen our connection to the Church’s mission in America and invite us to grow in hope through the witness of modern saints. Please note that the details below are subject to change, based on the number of expected attendees so that we can effectively coordinate with site managers and ministry partners.
-
Thursday
We begin our journey with Mass at St. Benedict’s Abbey, departing shortly afterward for Oklahoma City.
-
Friday
Spend the day at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine and other sacred locations from his early life and priesthood. That evening, we travel toward the Wichita area.
-
Saturday
Visit Pilsen, KS, the hometown of Venerable Emil Kapaun, and explore sites connected to his priestly ministry, including his tomb, in the Diocese of Wichita before the Korean War. We remain overnight in Wichita.
-
Sunday
In addition to attending Mass, we will journey to Mound City and Centerville, KS, honoring the missionary legacy of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, before returning to the Abbey in afternoon or evening.
